Alaska Denali Tours
One key attraction of any Alaskan vacation is guided tours through beautiful locations such as the Denali National Park. There are a variety of Alaska Denali tours designed to educate and excite visitors to this stunning region. The Denali National Park is home to the highest mountain in all of North America, commonly known as Mt. Kinley or Denali Mountain. Rising 20,320 feet this majestic mountain is definitely the showpiece of the park but not the only reason to visit. You will be amazed at the wealth of activities and tours that await you.
After you reach the Savage River Check Station of the park, you will no longer be able to travel by car. You will need to take a bus, bike or explore on foot. There are several different buses available that you will have to choose from depending on your preferences and needs. Denali Park Road is the only road available and is best traveled by bus as it stretches 91 miles. On this road you will travel through breathtaking cliffs, beautiful mountainsides and gorgeous vistas. Wildlife enthusiasts are sure to enjoy spotting a variety of native animals on their leisurely ride.
There are a variety of different buses you can take to get around the park. You are not limited to one bus and can change shuttles depending on your travel needs. Shuttle buses include the Savage River Shuttle, Riley Creek Loop Shuttle and the popular Sled Dog Demonstration Shuttle. By taking this shuttle you get to visit the kennels, meet the sled dogs and learn more about what they do at different times throughout the year. You might see current sled dogs, retired sled dogs and adorable puppies in training.
Other animals you will probably get to see on Alaska Denali tours include native species like wolves, Dall sheep, moose, caribou and even grizzly bears. Other wildlife you may spot include wolverines, foxes and the red pika. This park is also home to small mammals and birds as well. You will also be among more than 650 different types of flowers and an abundance of mosses, algae and fungi which cover the valleys and slopes of the park. For these reasons and more no trip to Alaska is complete without a trip to the Denali National Park and Preserve.
